Nabo
Local residents may have noticed a 4 page spread in the 17 April edition of the Sunday Canberra Times on nabo.
Nabo is the free social network application being used in thousands of suburbs across Australia, helping residents to get the best out of their local area. on nabo a new digital community initiative.
The makers claim that some of the reasons for joining Nabo are:
- Gain and share local knowledge – Recommend and discover the best things around you, from local events and attractions, a trusted service or tradie, to the best coffee in town.
- Create a safer suburb – Create a support network of local people who can keep an eye on your home or pet while you’re away. Grow a stronger neighbourhood together
- Buy, Sell, Borrow – Find a kids second hand bike or toy, sell an unwanted item from around your home, or borrow something handy from your neighbours
In our limited testing of nabo we found it to be very intuitive and we encourage all Hackett residents and businesses to join to help us build s stronger sense of community within the suburb of Hackett
In our opinion nabo has the potential to redefine the meaning of neighbourhood and neighbours as it enables members to connect more widely in their suburb than beyond those who live physically close by through the clever use of technology.
